Job Description

Key Responsibilities
- Perform installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, and complex repairs on a wide range of medical equipment, including diagnostic imaging systems, patient monitors, ventilators, infusion pumps, and surgical instruments.
- Conduct regular safety checks and performance verification tests to ensure all equipment operates strictly according to manufacturer specifications and relevant regulatory standards.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose complex technical issues promptly and accurately, implementing timely and effective solutions to minimize equipment downtime and ensure continuity of patient care.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of all maintenance activities, repairs, calibration logs, and equipment inventory using the hospital's asset management system.
- Provide technical training and ongoing support to clinical staff on the proper operation, routine care, and basic troubleshooting of medical devices, ensuring safe and efficient use.
- Actively participate in the evaluation, selection, and procurement process for new medical technologies, offering expert advice on technical specifications, integration requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
- Ensure strict compliance with local and international medical device regulations, hospital safety protocols, and quality assurance policies.
- Manage the inventory of spare parts and consumables, ensuring critical components are readily available for immediate repairs and scheduled maintenance.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Biomedical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- Minimum of 3 years of progressive experience as a Biomedical Engineer, preferably within a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of medical device regulations and safety standards (e.g., ISO 13485, CE, FDA guidelines).
- Proven proficiency in the maintenance, repair, and calibration of various medical equipment categories.
- Excellent analytical, diagnostic, and problem-solving skills with a meticulous approach to detail.
- Ability to read and accurately interpret complex technical manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
- Proficient in using computer-aided maintenance management systems (CMMS) and standard office software.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical, administrative, and vendor staff.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Clinical Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Professional certification in medical equipment repair or a specialized biomedical technology area.
- Experience with specific high-tech equipment such as MRI, CT scanners, ultrasound systems, or advanced laboratory analyzers.
- Familiarity with hospital information systems (HIS) and electronic medical records (EMR).
- Membership in a recognized professional engineering body.
