Career.zycto is seeking an exceptional Adventure Tour Guide to lead captivating journeys starting from the iconic National Museum of Kenya, through Nairobi’s bustling heart, and into the wild wonders beyond. As an Adventure Tour Guide, you will be the face of their Kenyan adventure, responsible for delivering engaging, informative, and safe tours. Your days will be a dynamic blend of historical narration at the National Museum, spotting the ‘Big Five’ in Nairobi National Park, interacting with local communities, and navigating the logistics of travel with a positive attitude. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead engaging and informative adventure tours to various attractions, including the National Museum of Kenya, Nairobi National Park, Giraffe Centre, Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, and other cultural/natural sites.
  • Provide compelling commentary on Kenyan history, art, culture, wildlife, and geography, making each tour a unique learning experience.
  • Ensure the highest standards of safety and well-being for all tour participants, conducting pre-trip briefings and adhering to safety protocols.
  • Efficiently manage all tour logistics, including transportation coordination, timing, bookings, and liaising with local partners and vendors.
  • Expertly handle unexpected situations, such as itinerary changes, medical emergencies, or client requests, maintaining composure and professionalism.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and enthusiastic group dynamic, ensuring every traveler feels valued and has a memorable, enjoyable experience.
  • Actively promote sustainable tourism practices and educate guests on responsible travel and environmental conservation.
  • Assist with pre-tour preparations, including equipment checks, and gather post-tour feedback for continuous service improvement.

Required Skills

  • Fluent in English (written and spoken) with exceptional verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Kenyan history, culture, wildlife, and geography, particularly within and around Nairobi.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing groups in a dynamic travel or outdoor setting.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities and adaptability in diverse and challenging environments.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to connect with people from various cultural backgrounds.
  • Valid Kenyan driving license (classes B, C1, or D1 preferred) with a clean driving record, if driving is required for tours.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Tourism, Hospitality, Wildlife Management, History, Anthropology, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in additional languages such as Swahili, French, German, or Spanish.
  • Prior experience working with international tourist groups.
  • Specialized knowledge in specific adventure activities like hiking, bird watching, or photography tours.
  • Ability to perform basic vehicle maintenance and troubleshooting in remote areas.
