Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Professional Maintenance Engineer to join our dynamic team within our industrial plant in Havendale, St. Andrew. This pivotal role is responsible for ensuring the optimal operational efficiency, reliability, and safety of all plant machinery and equipment. The successful candidate will be instrumental in developing, implementing, and overseeing comprehensive maintenance programs, ranging from preventative and predictive strategies to critical corrective actions. You will troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and automation issues, perform root cause analyses, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to minimize downtime and enhance productivity. This role requires a professional with a strong technical background, exceptional problem-solving abilities, and a commitment to upholding the highest standards of safety and quality in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive preventative and predictive maintenance programs for all industrial plant machinery and equipment.
- Perform in-depth troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control system malfunctions.
- Conduct root cause analysis for equipment failures, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve reliability.
- Oversee the installation, commissioning, and optimization of new equipment and plant modifications.
- Manage spare parts inventory, ensuring critical components are readily available to minimize downtime.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety regulations, company policies, and environmental standards.
- Collaborate with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to optimize processes and drive continuous improvement.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior maintenance staff and technicians.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, and reports using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Participate in capital expenditure projects, providing engineering input for equipment selection and plant upgrades.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Mechatronics Engineering.
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in maintenance engineering within an industrial manufacturing plant setting.
- Proven expertise in troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial machinery, including pumps, motors, conveyors, and processing equipment.
- Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, PLCs (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley), and automation controls.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and team collaboration abilities.
- Strong commitment to safety and knowledge of industrial safety protocols.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification.
- Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS).
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Prior experience in the food & beverage or fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) industry.
- Project management experience, particularly related to equipment upgrades or plant expansion.
