Job Description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated PR Coordinator to join our team at Southdown Estates in Chipinge. This pivotal role will be instrumental in managing our public image, fostering positive relationships with local communities, media, and various stakeholders, and effectively communicating Ariston Holdings’ values and achievements. The PR Coordinator will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive public relations strategies tailored to the unique context of our agricultural operations in Manicaland Province. You will be the voice of Southdown Estates, ensuring our story of sustainable agriculture, community investment, and economic contribution is heard and understood. This position requires a proactive individual with excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of local dynamics, and a passion for making a tangible impact through strategic public relations. The successful candidate will navigate internal and external communications, helping to build and maintain a strong, positive brand reputation that resonates with all our audiences.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement PR strategies and campaigns aligned with company objectives and local community engagement goals.
- Manage media relations, including drafting press releases, media advisories, and responding to media inquiries.
- Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with local media outlets, community leaders, government officials, and key stakeholders.
- Coordinate public events, community outreach programs, and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
- Monitor news and media coverage related to the company and the agricultural sector, identifying opportunities and potential risks.
- Assist in crisis communication efforts, preparing statements and ensuring consistent messaging.
- Develop internal communication materials to keep employees informed and engaged.
- Manage content for company social media channels relevant to local operations and community activities.
- Prepare reports on PR activities, media coverage, and campaign effectiveness.
Required Skills
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English and Shona (Ndebele also an advantage).
- Proven experience in public relations, corporate communications, or media relations.
- Strong understanding of media landscape and community dynamics within Zimbabwe, particularly rural areas.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a diverse team.
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel within the region as required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field.
- Experience working in the agricultural sector or with rural communities.
- Knowledge of digital PR tools and analytics.
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and execution.
