Job Description

Career.zycto is actively seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Remote Medical Billing Assistant to join our growing team. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and transmit claims using billing software, including electronic and paper claim submissions.
  • Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits, and ensure accurate demographic and insurance information is on file.
  • Follow up on unpaid claims, resolve denials, and manage appeals processes efficiently.
  • Process patient payments, manage outstanding balances, and handle patient inquiries regarding bills.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all HIPAA regulations and compliance standards.
  • Work collaboratively with healthcare providers and other administrative staff to resolve billing discrepancies.
  • Keep abreast of changes in medical coding, billing regulations, and insurance policies.
  • Generate and analyze billing reports to identify trends and areas for improvement.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in medical billing or a related healthcare administrative role.
  • Proficiency in medical billing software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Solid understanding of medical terminology, CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS coding.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance plans, billing regulations, and HIPAA compliance.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and claim processing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote work environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Medical Billing and Coding, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Certification in Medical Billing and Coding (e.g., CPC, CCS-P, CPB).
  • Experience with a variety of insurance carriers (e.g., Medicare, Medi-Cal, PPOs, HMOs).
  • Familiarity with California-specific billing regulations.
