Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Entry-Level Survey Assistant to join our growing team in West Vancouver, British Columbia. As a Survey Assistant, you will work closely with experienced Surveyors and Technicians, providing essential field support on a variety of projects, including topographic surveys, construction staking, boundary surveys, and more. No prior surveying experience is required; we are committed to providing thorough on-the-job training to equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for success. You will learn to operate and maintain state-of-the-art surveying equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS receivers, and data collectors. This role demands a strong commitment to accuracy, safety, and teamwork, as well as a willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Key Responsibilities
- Assist Surveyors and Technicians with the setup, operation, and calibration of surveying equipment (e.g., Total Stations, GPS units).
- Clear brush and obstacles, drive stakes, and carry equipment across various terrains.
- Accurately record field notes, measurements, and other project data as instructed.
- Ensure all safety protocols and company policies are strictly followed on job sites.
- Perform basic equipment maintenance and report any malfunctions or damage.
- Assist with data collection, entry, and quality control procedures.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the field and office.
- Support the survey crew in all aspects of fieldwork, demonstrating a proactive attitude.
- Learn and understand basic surveying principles and terminology.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Valid Class 5 British Columbia Driver's License and a clean driving record.
- Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in various weather conditions and on challenging terrain.
- Strong physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
- Basic math skills and an aptitude for technical tasks.
