Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking vigilant, detail-oriented, and reliable individuals to serve as Exam Invigilators for temporary assignments within Nyeri County, Kenya. This crucial temporary role ensures the smooth, fair, and secure administration of examinations across various educational settings, ranging from schools to colleges and professional certification bodies. As an Exam Invigilator, you will be instrumental in upholding the integrity of the examination process, safeguarding the academic standards of our partnering institutions, and providing a conducive environment for all candidates. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure strict adherence to examination rules and regulations, prevent malpractice, and offer necessary assistance while maintaining the solemnity and decorum of the examination room. Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive at the examination venue well in advance to assist with the setup of the examination room, including arranging desks, seating plans, and distributing examination materials.
  • Clearly read out instructions and rules to candidates before the start of the examination, ensuring all candidates understand the guidelines.
  • Vigilantly monitor candidates throughout the examination to prevent any form of malpractice, including cheating, unauthorized communication, or use of prohibited materials.
  • Accurately verify candidate identities against attendance registers and ensure all necessary documentation is completed.
  • Manage the distribution and collection of examination papers and answer booklets, ensuring all materials are accounted for and securely handled at all times.
  • Address candidate queries or concerns politely and efficiently, referring complex issues to the Chief Invigilator or supervisor as necessary.
  • Escort candidates for restroom breaks or other necessary interruptions, ensuring minimal disruption and maintaining security protocols.
  • Record and report any incidents, irregularities, or suspicious behaviour promptly and accurately to the Chief Invigilator.
  • Maintain a quiet and orderly examination environment, enforcing rules regarding noise levels, electronic devices, and personal belongings.
  • Ensure the timely start and end of examinations, giving clear time warnings to candidates.
  • Assist with the packing and secure transfer of collected examination materials at the conclusion of the session.

  • Punctual, reliable, and highly organized.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.
  • Proficiency in English and Swahili (both verbal and written).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in invigilation, supervision, or proctoring roles.
  • Basic understanding of examination policies and procedures.
  • Experience working in an educational or administrative environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills for record-keeping if required.
  • A diploma or degree in any field is an added advantage.
