Key Responsibilities
- Assist senior Environmental Technicians and Project Managers with various field tasks, including environmental sampling (soil, water, air), monitoring, and data collection.
- Operate and maintain field equipment such as pumps, meters, GPS devices, and sampling tools, ensuring proper calibration and functionality.
- Document field observations, measurements, and sample information accurately and thoroughly in field logs and on data sheets.
- Prepare samples for laboratory analysis, including proper labeling, packaging, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Perform routine laboratory tasks, such as glassware cleaning, sample preparation, and basic analytical tests under supervision.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety protocols, company policies, and regulatory guidelines during all field and office activities.
- Participate in site setup and breakdown, including organizing equipment, materials, and waste management.
- Assist with data entry, report compilation, and general administrative support as needed.
- Learn and apply new environmental regulations, sampling techniques, and analytical methods.
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment, both in the field and the office/lab.
Required Skills
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Ability to perform physical work in various outdoor weather conditions, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions precisely.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated enthusiasm for environmental work and a willingness to learn.
Preferred Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Chemistry, Biology, or a related scientific field (or currently pursuing).
- Previous experience in a hands-on outdoor role, construction, or lab setting.
- Knowledge of basic scientific principles and environmental concepts.
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
- Familiarity with GPS devices and data collection applications.
