This role involves operating a company-provided van, adhering strictly to all traffic laws, company safety policies, and local regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Safely transport students to and from school or designated activities according to scheduled routes.
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean and orderly vehicle interior, ensuring a comfortable environment for students.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, safety regulations, and company policies, prioritizing student well-being.
- Ensure all passengers are safely secured with appropriate restraints before departure.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, and school staff.
- Manage student behavior on the van in a respectful and firm manner, following company guidelines.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergency situations, adhering to established protocols.
- Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel consumption, and student attendance as required.
Required Skills
- Valid G-class Ontario Driver's License (or equivalent) with a clean driving record.
- Minimum of 2 years of professional driving experience, preferably in a passenger transport role.
- Ability to pass a criminal record check and vulnerable sector screening.
- Strong commitment to safety, punctuality, and reliability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with patience for children.
- Ability to work flexible, split shifts aligning with school schedules.
- Physical ability to perform routine vehicle inspections and assist students as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience driving children or operating a passenger van.
