Job Description
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Scrum Master to join our growing team in Minnow Lake, Sudbury. This pivotal role requires an individual who is passionate about agile methodologies and dedicated to fostering an environment of continuous improvement and self-organization within our development teams. As a Scrum Master at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in guiding multiple Scrum teams, ensuring they adhere to Scrum principles and practices while delivering high-quality products.
You will serve as a facilitator, coach, and impediment remover, shielding the team from external distractions and helping them focus on sprint goals. Your ability to communicate complex concepts clearly and effectively, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, will be critical in building collaborative relationships across all levels of the organization. This role is not just about facilitating ceremonies; it’s about deeply understanding team dynamics, coaching Product Owners and development teams to maximize value, and promoting a culture of transparency and inspect-and-adapt. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of software development lifecycles and a proven track record of successfully guiding teams through complex projects. Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate daily Scrum, sprint planning, sprint review, and sprint retrospective meetings.
- Coach development teams and Product Owners on Agile principles and Scrum framework.
- Remove impediments or guide the team to remove impediments by finding the right personnel to remove them.
- Foster a culture of self-organization, transparency, and continuous improvement within Scrum teams.
- Work with Product Owners to ensure the product backlog is refined and prioritized effectively.
- Support and educate the Product Owner, especially with respect to grooming and maintaining the product backlog.
- Assess the Scrum Maturity of the team and organization and coaching the team to higher levels of maturity.
- Build a trusting and safe environment where problems can be raised without fear of blame, retribution, or judgment, with an emphasis on healing and problem-solving.
- Facilitate getting the work done without coercion, assigning, or dictating the work.
- Engage with stakeholders to ensure alignment and manage expectations regarding project delivery.
Required Skills
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification (e.g., PSM I)
- 3+ years of experience working as a Scrum Master in a software development environment
- Fluent in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong understanding of Agile principles and practices (Scrum, Kanban, Lean)
- Proven ability to coach and mentor teams and individuals
- Experience with agile project management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello)
- Exceptional facilitation and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work effectively with remote and co-located team members
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced Scrum Master certification (e.g., A-CSM, PSM II)
- Experience with scaling Agile frameworks (e.g., SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale)
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
- Experience in a regulated industry or large enterprise environment
- Familiarity with various software development methodologies and technologies
