Job Description

Career.zycto is on the lookout for a highly skilled and dedicated Estimator to join our bustling team in King’s Cross, London. This pivotal role requires an individual with a keen eye for detail, exceptional analytical abilities, and a proven track record in accurate cost estimation for a diverse range of projects. As an Estimator, you will be instrumental in ensuring the competitiveness and profitability of bids by meticulously evaluating project specifications, material costs, labour requirements, and potential risks. You will collaborate closely with project managers, engineers, and clients to develop comprehensive estimates that align with project scope and budgetary constraints.

You will be expected to conduct thorough research, engage with suppliers and subcontractors for pricing, and maintain an up-to-date understanding of market trends and industry regulations. Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for various projects, encompassing labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Review project specifications, drawings, and other documentation to understand the full scope of work.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and sales teams to gather necessary information for accurate bidding.
  • Source and obtain competitive quotes from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and opportunities related to project costs.
  • Present comprehensive estimates and proposals to internal teams and clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of all estimates, bids, and related documentation.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, pricing fluctuations, and new technologies.
  • Participate in post-bid reviews to analyze estimate accuracy and identify areas for improvement.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as an Estimator in a relevant industry (e.g., construction, engineering)
  • Exceptional analytical and numerical skills
  • Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel particularly)
  • Strong understanding of reading and interpreting blueprints, specifications, and technical documents
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and meet tight deadlines
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
  • Professional certification in estimating (e.g., RICS, CIOB)
  • Experience with specific project management software (e.g., Primavera, Asta Powerproject)
  • Knowledge of contract law and commercial terms
  • Previous experience in a client-facing role
