Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed site inspections at various stages of construction to ensure compliance with building regulations, approved plans, and specifications.
- Review architectural, structural, and services plans for new build, extension, and alteration projects.
- Identify and document deviations from building codes and safety standards, issuing corrective action notices where necessary.
- Provide expert advice and guidance to builders, developers, homeowners, and other stakeholders on building regulations and best practices.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, maintaining accurate records of site visits, findings, and resolutions.
- Investigate complaints related to unsafe structures or non-compliant building works.
- Collaborate with planning officers, architects, engineers, and other regulatory bodies.
- Monitor the progress of corrective works to ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of issues.
- Stay updated with changes in building legislation, regulations, and industry standards.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Building Inspector or in a closely related construction inspection role.
- Thorough knowledge of UK Building Regulations and associated legislation.
- Excellent understanding of construction methods, materials, and structural engineering principles.
- Ability to read and interpret complex architectural and engineering drawings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
