Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide direct emotional and practical support to individuals experiencing mental health difficulties.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized care plans, ensuring they are person-centred and recovery-focused.
  • Facilitate group activities and one-on-one sessions designed to enhance coping skills, social integration, and daily living abilities.
  • Monitor and report on service user progress, identifying any changes in condition or support needs.
  • Collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including therapists, doctors, and social workers.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential, and up-to-date client records in accordance with organizational policies and data protection regulations.
  • Advocate for service users, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are respected.
  • Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support as required, following established protocols.
  • Educate service users and their families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and community resources.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and team meetings to ensure continuous professional development and high-quality service delivery.

Required Skills

  • Excellent command of the English language, both written and verbal, for clear communication with service users and colleagues.
  • Demonstrable understanding of common mental health conditions, their impact, and effective support strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with diverse individuals.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Proficiency in record-keeping and administrative tasks.

  • Basic IT literacy, including familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A relevant qualification in Mental Health, Social Care, Psychology, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4, Diploma, Degree).
  • Previous experience working in a mental health support setting, either paid or voluntary.
  • Knowledge of local mental health services and community resources in London.
  • Training in first aid, de-escalation techniques, or safeguarding.
  • Experience working with diverse populations and understanding of cultural sensitivities.
