Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in planning and executing audit engagements for various clients under supervision.
  • Prepare clear and concise audit working papers, documenting procedures performed and conclusions reached.
  • Perform substantive testing and analytical procedures on financial statement accounts.
  • Identify and communicate audit issues, risks, and control deficiencies to senior staff.
  • Participate in client meetings and interviews to gather information and clarify issues.
  • Ensure adherence to Canadian Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and auditing standards.
  • Contribute to the preparation of audit reports and management letters.
  • Maintain accurate and organized audit documentation.
  • Support senior auditors in special projects as required.

Required Skills

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles (IFRS/ASPE an asset).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to professional ethics and integrity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Enrolled in or actively pursuing a CPA designation.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in audit or accounting.
  • Familiarity with audit software (e.g., Caseware, AuditCloud).
  • Experience with data analytics tools.
  • Knowledge of Canadian tax regulations.
