We are actively seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join a dynamic team committed to student success and well-being. As a Special Education Teacher specializing in supporting American students, you will play a pivotal role in creating an inclusive and equitable learning environment. Your primary focus will be on assessing, planning, and delivering specialized instruction to students with a wide range of learning differences, ensuring they achieve their full academic and social potential within an American educational context. This role requires a deep understanding of US special education laws, best practices, and the ability to adapt curriculum to meet diverse individual needs.

We are looking for an educator who is not only proficient in developing and implementing Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) but also excels at collaborating with parents, general education teachers, and support staff. You will foster strong relationships with families, providing guidance and support, and advocating for student needs. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) in accordance with US federal and state guidelines, tailoring goals and objectives to individual student needs.
  • Provide direct, specialized instruction to students with diverse learning abilities, utilizing a variety of instructional methods and resources within an American curriculum framework.
  • Conduct comprehensive assessments to identify student strengths and areas for growth, and interpret data to inform instructional planning and program adjustments.
  • Collaborate effectively with general education teachers to modify curriculum, accommodations, and teaching strategies to promote inclusion and student success in mainstream classrooms.
  • Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, goals, and strategies, fostering a strong home-school partnership.
  • Manage student behavior using positive reinforcement techniques and implement behavior intervention plans as needed.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives to enhance the overall educational program.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records, progress reports, and documentation as required.

Required Skills

  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education (US state certification preferred).
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience as a Special Education Teacher, preferably within an American school setting.
  • In-depth knowledge of US special education laws, regulations (e.g., IDEA), and best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop, implement, and monitor comprehensive IEPs.
  • Strong understanding of various learning disabilities, developmental delays, and effective intervention strategies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaboration skills with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Proficiency in differentiated instruction, assessment, and classroom management techniques.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with American expatriate students or in an international school environment.
  • Specific certifications or endorsements in areas such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Dyslexia, or Emotional Behavioral Disorders.
  • Familiarity with various educational technologies and assistive devices used to support students with special needs.
