Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating, revising, and modifying technical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD software under supervision.
  • Prepare detailed drawings and plans from sketches, specifications, and verbal instructions provided by engineers and designers.
  • Collaborate effectively with project teams to understand design requirements and ensure accurate representation in drawings.
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to established industry standards, company guidelines, and project specifications.
  • Maintain organized digital files, including proper documentation and revision control for all drawing sets.
  • Actively participate in learning new drafting techniques, software features, and design methodologies.
  • Provide support in preparing technical reports and presentations as needed.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting Technology, or a related technical field.
  • Basic proficiency and hands-on experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Revit, MicroStation).
  • Fundamental understanding of drafting principles, orthographic projections, and basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Strong attention to detail, precision, and accuracy in technical work.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical instructions, blueprints, and design specifications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for clear collaboration.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to learning.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience with 3D modeling software or rendering tools.
  • Familiarity with local building codes, bylaws, or industry-specific regulations in British Columbia.
  • A portfolio showcasing academic projects, personal drafting work, or relevant design samples.
  • Experience in a team-based project environment, either academic or professional.
