Key Responsibilities

  • Assist senior inspectors with on-site inspections of residential and commercial properties.
  • Document inspection findings, observations, and compliance issues accurately.
  • Review building plans, blueprints, and specifications for adherence to applicable codes and bylaws.
  • Communicate findings and requirements to contractors, property owners, and other stakeholders under supervision.
  • Learn and apply municipal bylaws and provincial building codes (e.g., BC Building Code).
  • Conduct research on specific code requirements and construction best practices.
  • Maintain organized records and contribute to inspection reports.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance technical knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Currently enrolled in a relevant post-secondary program (e.g., Civil Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, Urban Planning).
  • Strong observational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Basic understanding of construction principles or a strong eagerness to learn.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).

  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and access to reliable transportation (for site visits).
