Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate, confidential records of interactions and case progress, adhering to data protection guidelines.
  • Advocate on behalf of service users with external agencies, including housing, healthcare, education, and welfare services.
  • Organise and facilitate community outreach programs, workshops, and support groups to engage and empower service users.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, volunteers, and external partners to ensure holistic support.
  • Identify and report safeguarding concerns, adhering strictly to all relevant policies and procedures.
  • Participate actively in training and continuous professional development opportunities to enhance skills and knowledge.

Required Skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, demonstrating empathy, patience, and active listening.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as an effective team member.
  • Proven organizational and time management abilities, with a capacity to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • A fundamental understanding of safeguarding principles and best practices.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to work effectively with diverse populations and backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a charity, social work, or community support role.

  • Knowledge of local Edinburgh community resources, support networks, and social services.
  • Experience with case management systems or client database software.
  • Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle.
