As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering individuals to achieve their personal goals, maintain their independence, and engage actively within their communities. Key Responsibilities
- Provide person-centred support to individuals with learning disabilities and autism, adhering to their individual care plans and promoting their independence.
- Assist with daily living activities, including personal care, meal preparation, medication administration, and household tasks.
- Support individuals in accessing community activities, appointments, education, and employment opportunities.
- Promote healthy lifestyles through encouragement of physical activity, balanced diet, and engagement in hobbies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including daily logs, incident reports, and care plan reviews.
- Communicate effectively with individuals, their families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Act as an advocate for the people we support, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld.
- Implement safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure the safety and well-being of all individuals.
- Work collaboratively as part of a team, contributing to a positive and supportive work environment.
- Engage in continuous professional development and training opportunities provided by Dimensions.
Required Skills
- Genuine passion for supporting individuals with learning disabilities and autism.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong empathy, patience, and resilience.
- Basic IT literacy for record-keeping and communication.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Commitment to person-centred care and promoting independence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience (paid or voluntary) in a care or support role.
- NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Health and Social Care, or equivalent qualification.
- Understanding of safeguarding principles and practices.
- Driving licence (desirable, but not essential for all roles).
