Key Responsibilities

  • Perform comprehensive oral assessments, including charting and periodontal screenings.
  • Conduct thorough dental prophylaxis, scaling, and root planing procedures.
  • Administer local anesthetic as permitted by licensure and practice protocols.
  • Take, develop, and interpret diagnostic dental radiographs.
  • Provide individualized oral hygiene instructions and education on preventative care.
  • Apply fluoride treatments, dental sealants, and other preventative agents.
  • Sterilize and maintain dental instruments and equipment in accordance with infection control standards.
  • Document all patient care, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately in dental software.
  • Collaborate effectively with dentists, dental assistants, and administrative staff to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe clinical environment.

Required Skills

  • Active Registered Dental Hygienist (RDH) license in Manitoba.
  • Current CPR certification (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers).
  • Proficiency in dental charting and practice management software (e.g., Dentrix, Abeldent, Open Dental).
  • Exceptional manual dexterity and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and patient education skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral part of a cohesive dental team.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and adherence to ethical guidelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Dental Hygienist in a general practice setting.
  • Experience with digital radiography and intraoral cameras.
  • Endorsement for local anesthesia administration in Manitoba.
  • Familiarity with various dental insurance procedures and claims.
  • Additional language proficiency (e.g., French, Tagalog) is an asset.
