As a Fabricator, you will be instrumental in transforming raw materials into finished products, adhering strictly to technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications. Your day-to-day will involve a variety of fabrication techniques, including precise cutting, shaping, grinding, welding (MIG, TIG, ARC), and assembling various materials, predominantly metals such as steel, aluminium, and stainless steel. You’ll be expected to operate a range of machinery, from hand and power tools to advanced fabrication equipment like press brakes, shears, and CNC machines, always prioritising safety protocols and operational efficiency. This role demands a keen eye for detail, a steady hand, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, ensuring every component meets the highest quality standards before moving to the next stage of production. Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and engineering specifications.
- Cut, shape, and form materials using various hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery (e.g., grinders, drills, saws, press brakes).
- Perform welding processes (MIG, TIG, ARC) on various metal types (steel, aluminium, stainless steel).
- Assemble fabricated components according to specifications, ensuring precise fit and alignment.
- Inspect finished products for quality assurance, ensuring compliance with standards and tolerances.
- Operate and maintain fabrication machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify and resolve fabrication issues.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of work areas and equipment.
- Assist in material handling and inventory management as required.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Fabricator or Welder.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting technical drawings and blueprints.
- Skilled in various welding techniques (MIG, TIG, ARC).
- Competent in using a range of hand tools, power tools, and fabrication machinery.
- Strong understanding of metal properties and fabrication processes.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Commitment to health and safety standards.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification in Fabrication & Welding.
- Experience with CNC fabrication equipment.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles.
- Prior experience in a diverse manufacturing environment.
- Forklift license.
