Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a passionate and experienced Digital Accessibility Specialist to join our fully remote team. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in embedding accessibility best practices across all our digital products and platforms, ensuring compliance with global standards such as WCAG 2.1 AA. You will work collaboratively with product managers, designers, and developers throughout the entire product lifecycle. Your expertise will guide teams from concept to launch, conducting audits, providing expert recommendations, developing training materials, and fostering a deep understanding of accessibility principles. We are looking for someone who can not only identify issues but also propose innovative, practical solutions that integrate seamlessly into our agile development processes. Your day-to-day will involve hands-on accessibility testing, evaluating user journeys, and leading initiatives that elevate our commitment to digital inclusion. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive accessibility audits of digital products (web, mobile apps) against WCAG 2.1 AA standards and other relevant guidelines.
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations to product, design, and development teams on implementing accessible solutions.
  • Develop and deliver accessibility training sessions for internal teams, fostering a culture of inclusive design.
  • Collaborate with UX/UI designers to ensure accessibility is integrated from the initial design phase.
  • Work closely with developers to review code, provide feedback, and troubleshoot accessibility issues.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of evolving accessibility standards, guidelines, and assistive technologies.
  • Participate in user research involving individuals with disabilities to gather insights and validate accessibility solutions.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of internal accessibility guidelines, checklists, and documentation.
  • Champion accessibility initiatives across the organization, raising awareness and promoting best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience as a Digital Accessibility Specialist or similar role.
  • In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.0/2.1 AA guidelines and ARIA standards.
  • Proficiency with accessibility testing tools (e.g., JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver, Lighthouse, Axe, WAVE).
  • Strong understanding of HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript as they relate to accessibility.
  • Ability to articulate complex accessibility concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience working within agile development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, essential for a remote team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • IAAP certification (CPACC, WAS, ADS) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with mobile accessibility (iOS and Android native apps).
  • Familiarity with various design systems and component libraries.
  • Understanding of assistive technologies and their practical application.
  • Experience in building and scaling accessibility programs within an organization.
  • Degree in Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, or a related field.
