Key Responsibilities
- Operate school buses safely and efficiently on assigned routes, adhering to all traffic laws and company policies.
- Ensure the timely pick-up and drop-off of students, maintaining schedule adherence.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle, reporting any mechanical defects or issues promptly.
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and hygienic bus interior for the comfort and safety of all passengers.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations among passengers, promoting a respectful and orderly environment on the bus.
- Assist students with special needs, including proper use and securement of mobility devices such as wheelchairs (training will be provided).
- Communicate effectively and professionally with students, parents, school staff, and dispatch regarding routes, delays, or student conduct.
- Complete necessary paperwork, including daily logs, incident reports, and mileage records, accurately and punctually.
- Attend all mandatory ongoing training sessions, safety meetings, and professional development courses as required.
- Respond calmly and effectively to emergencies or unexpected situations while prioritizing student safety.
Required Skills
- A valid UK driving license (Category B minimum; Category D will be obtained through our fully funded training program).
- Minimum of 2 years of general driving experience, demonstrating safe driving practices.
- Clean driving record with no more than 3 penalty points (ideally zero).
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background check and an enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, especially when interacting with children and parents.
- Strong commitment to safety, passenger welfare, and adherence to regulations.
- Demonstrated patience, reliability, and punctuality.
- Ability to work split shifts during school term times, aligning with school hours.
- A professional and responsible attitude at all times.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience working with children or in a customer service role.
- Familiarity with Hounslow and surrounding areas.
- Basic mechanical aptitude for minor vehicle checks and troubleshooting.
- First Aid certification (though training may be provided as part of the role).
- Experience in a role requiring high levels of responsibility and independent work.
