Key Responsibilities
- Assist participants with activities of daily living, including personal care, mobility, and meal assistance.
- Organize and lead engaging recreational, social, and educational activities tailored to participant interests and abilities.
- Provide companionship, emotional support, and active listening to foster a sense of belonging and well-being.
- Monitor participants' physical and emotional health, reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate staff members.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for all participants.
- Document participant interactions, observations, and care provided accurately and timely.
- Communicate effectively with participants, their families, and other team members to ensure coordinated and compassionate care.
- Encourage participant independence and involvement in decision-making.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies.
Required Skills
- Proven empathy, patience, and a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) in both English and French.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Basic knowledge of first aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Physical ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and supporting participants.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certificate or diploma in Health Care Assistance, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related field.
- Previous experience working in an adult day care, long-term care, or similar community-based setting.
- Understanding of the challenges and needs of aging adults or individuals with special needs.
- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
