As a Part-Time Music Therapist with Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in developing and implementing personalized music therapy programs. You’ll work with diverse populations, including but not limited to, individuals with developmental delays, mental health challenges, neurological conditions, and those seeking palliative care or stress reduction. Your day-to-day could involve facilitating group sessions in community settings, conducting individual sessions in a clinical environment, or even engaging in outreach programs. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive music therapy assessments to identify client needs and goals.
  • Develop and implement individualized and group music therapy treatment plans using evidence-based practices.
  • Facilitate therapeutic sessions utilizing various musical modalities (e.g., improvisation, song writing, receptive music listening, rhythmic activities).
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes and reports.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, families, and caregivers to ensure integrated care.
  • Educate clients and their families about the benefits and goals of music therapy.
  • Adhere to professional ethical guidelines and standards of practice.
  • Actively participate in supervision, team meetings, and professional development opportunities.

Required Skills

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Music Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Must hold a valid Music Therapist – Board Certified (MTA or MT-BC) credential.
  • Demonstrated proficiency on at least one primary musical instrument (e.g., piano, guitar, voice).
  • Strong clinical assessment, intervention, and documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Empathy, patience, and a non-judgmental approach to client care.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both English and French (bilingualism highly valued in Montreal).
  • Experience working with diverse populations (e.g., geriatrics, pediatrics, mental health, neurorehabilitation).
  • Additional certifications or specialized training in related therapeutic modalities.
  • Previous experience in a private practice, hospital, or community-based setting.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
