You will be responsible for conducting thorough eye examinations, assessing visual acuity, and interpreting diagnostic tests to develop personalized treatment plans. Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations, including refractions, visual field tests, and internal/external eye health assessments.
  • Diagnose and treat ocular diseases and conditions, prescribing medications as appropriate.
  • Prescribe, fit, and evaluate contact lenses and eyeglasses, ensuring optimal vision correction.
  • Co-manage patients with ophthalmologists for advanced surgical or medical interventions.
  • Educate patients on proper eye care, contact lens hygiene, and the importance of regular eye exams.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
  • Collaborate with optical staff to ensure seamless patient experience and accurate dispensing of eyewear.
  • Stay current with advancements in optometric practice, technology, and treatment modalities.

Required Skills

  • Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution.
  • Valid state Optometry license in Indiana.
  • Current DEA registration (or eligibility to obtain).
  • Proven ability to conduct comprehensive eye examinations for diverse patient populations.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and treating ocular diseases and visual system disorders.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a patient-first approach.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of post-licensure experience in an optometric practice setting.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems specific to optometry.
  • Specialization or interest in areas such as pediatrics, glaucoma, or low vision.
  • Fluency in Spanish or other languages relevant to the local Goshen community.
  • Active participation in professional optometric associations.
