Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for various medical procedures and services using online portals, phone calls, and other resources.
- Obtain accurate demographic, insurance, and clinical information from patients and/or physician offices.
- Clearly document all verification details, including coverage limitations, deductibles, co-payments, and out-of-pocket maximums, in the designated system.
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and insurance companies to resolve any discrepancies or issues related to coverage.
- Identify and inform patients or providers of potential financial liabilities, such as services not covered by insurance.
- Stay updated on changes in insurance policies, healthcare regulations, and payer requirements.
- Process pre-authorisation and referral requirements as needed.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality (HIPAA/GDPR compliance).
- Collaborate with billing and coding teams to ensure accurate claims submission.
Required Skills
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in insurance verification, medical billing, or a related healthcare administrative role.
- Proficiency with various insurance payer portals and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 codes, and healthcare claim processing.
