Key Responsibilities
- Participate actively and successfully complete all phases of the Law Enforcement Training Program.
- Respond to calls for service, emergencies, and criminal incidents with professionalism and urgency.
- Conduct patrols within designated areas, maintaining high visibility to deter criminal activity.
- Enforce local, state, and national laws and ordinances, upholding justice fairly and impartially.
- Investigate crimes, collect evidence, interview witnesses, and prepare detailed reports.
- Engage in community policing initiatives, building trust and positive relationships with residents.
- Provide assistance to the public in diverse situations, ranging from traffic accidents to welfare checks.
- Effectively manage and de-escalate conflict situations through trained communication techniques.
- Administer first aid and respond to medical emergencies as necessary.
- Operate and maintain departmental equipment and vehicles safely and efficiently.
Required Skills
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid driver's license with a good driving record.
- Must be 21 years of age or older at the time of appointment.
- Ability to pass a comprehensive background investigation, including criminal history, psychological evaluation, and physical fitness test.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong moral character and commitment to ethical conduct.
- Physical ability to meet the demands of law enforcement duties (running, lifting, standing for long periods).
- Problem-solving and critical thinking abilities under pressure.
- Availability to work various shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
