Key Responsibilities

  • Operate and maintain a wide array of studio equipment, including mixing consoles, microphones, outboard gear, and digital audio workstations (DAWs).
  • Engineer recording sessions for various instruments and vocalists, ensuring optimal signal flow, microphone placement, and gain staging.
  • Perform professional audio mixing to achieve balanced, clear, and impactful final tracks, adhering to artistic and industry standards.
  • Execute high-quality audio mastering, preparing tracks for distribution across different platforms and ensuring sonic consistency.
  • Collaborate closely with artists, producers, and other team members to understand their creative vision and translate it into a superior sonic product.
  • Conduct sound checks, troubleshoot technical issues, and provide solutions promptly to maintain smooth session flow.
  • Assist with studio setup and tear-down, ensuring the recording environment is prepared for each session.
  • Maintain an organised library of session files, mixes, and masters, adhering to company archiving protocols.
  • Stay current with emerging audio technologies, software, and industry best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in leading Digital Audio Workstations (DAWs) such as Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, Cubase, or Ableton Live.
  • In-depth understanding of acoustics, signal processing, microphone techniques, and audio engineering principles.
  • Demonstrable experience in multi-track recording, mixing, and mastering across various music genres.
  • Strong ear for pitch, rhythm, and dynamics, with the ability to identify and rectify sonic imperfections.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, essential for effective collaboration with artists and team members.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot audio equipment and software issues efficiently.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality audio.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Audio Engineering, Music Production, or a related field.
  • Certification in Pro Tools, Logic Pro X, or other industry-standard software.
  • Experience with post-production audio for film, TV, or games, in addition to music production.
  • Familiarity with various analog and digital mixing consoles.
