Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, deliver, and evaluate a range of engaging youth work programmes and activities that meet the needs and interests of young people aged 11-25.
  • Build positive, trusting relationships with young people, acting as a mentor and providing guidance on personal, social, educational, and vocational issues.
  • Offer one-on-one and group support, helping young people to develop life skills, resilience, and positive coping mechanisms.
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, ensuring the welfare and safety of all young people in accordance with organisational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners, including schools, social services, and other community organisations, to enhance service delivery and outreach.
  • Maintain accurate records, monitor programme effectiveness, and contribute to reports on youth engagement and outcomes.
  • Actively promote an inclusive environment that values diversity and ensures all young people feel respected and heard.
  • Attend regular supervision sessions, training, and team meetings to ensure continuous professional development and best practice.

Required Skills

  • Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is essential.
  • Proven experience working directly with young people in a youth work, education, or community setting (minimum 30 months).
  • Strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding principles, with current Level 2 or 3 Safeguarding training.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people and their families.
  • Ability to plan, organise, and deliver creative and engaging activities.
  • Demonstrable ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in basic IT skills, including word processing and email.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A recognised qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, Education, or a related field (e.g., NVQ Level 3/4, Degree).
  • Experience working with diverse communities and an understanding of cultural sensitivities.
  • Knowledge of local services and resources available to young people in Camden.
  • First Aid qualification.
