Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive research on current fashion trends, fabrics, colors, and competitor collections.
- Conceptualize and develop original design ideas for seasonal collections through sketching and digital illustration.
- Create detailed technical packages, including flat sketches, construction details, and material specifications for factories.
- Source and select appropriate fabrics, trims, and embellishments that align with design vision and budget.
- Collaborate closely with pattern makers, sample machinists, and production teams throughout the development process.
- Participate in fittings, provide clear feedback, and make necessary adjustments to ensure design integrity and fit.
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of target customer preferences and market demand.
- Ensure all design elements are completed accurately and on time to meet production deadlines.
- Contribute to mood boards, color palettes, and overall collection storytelling.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Strong freehand sketching and digital illustration skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, and textile properties
- Proven understanding of current fashion trends, history, and market dynamics
- Exceptional creativity and an eye for aesthetics and detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration
- A strong, professional portfolio showcasing diverse design capabilities and technical skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Apparel Design, or a related field
- 3+ years of experience in a professional fashion design role, preferably in apparel.
- Experience with 3D design software (e.g., CLO3D, Marvelous Designer)
- Familiarity with sustainable design practices and materials
- Bilingualism (English and French) is considered a strong asset for our Montreal location
