Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine vehicle maintenance, including oil changes, tire rotations, brake inspections, and fluid checks.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment and technical manuals.
- Repair and replace faulty components, including engines, transmissions, brakes, suspension systems, and electrical components.
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections to identify potential problems and recommend necessary repairs.
- Ensure all work is completed to high standards of quality and safety, adhering to manufacturer specifications.
- Maintain accurate records of all services performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding vehicle status, repair recommendations, and estimated costs.
- Keep the workshop clean, organized, and stocked with necessary tools and supplies.
- Stay updated with new automotive technologies, repair techniques, and industry best practices.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as an Auto Mechanic or Vehicle Technician.
- Solid understanding of automotive systems, including engines, transmissions, electrical, braking, and steering.
- Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Ability to perform a wide range of repairs and maintenance tasks.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
- Valid UK driving license.
- Fluency in English (written and spoken) for clear communication with colleagues and customers.
Preferred Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 in Light Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent.
- Experience with various vehicle makes and models.
- Familiarity with workshop management software.
- MOT Tester certification (desirable but not essential).
