Job Description
Career.zycto is seeking an innovative and passionate Wearable Tech Developer to join our growing team in Maple Ridge, British Columbia. In this full-time role, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and deploying software for cutting-edge wearable devices that blend seamlessly into our users’ lives. You’ll work across the full software development lifecycle, from conceptualization and architectural design to coding, testing, and deployment. Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and test robust embedded software for new wearable products and features.
- Integrate and optimize various sensors (e.g., accelerometers, gyroscopes, heart rate monitors) and hardware components.
- Implement efficient power management strategies to maximize device battery life.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with hardware engineering, industrial design, and cloud teams.
- Develop and maintain reliable connectivity solutions, including Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), Wi-Fi, and other wireless protocols.
- Perform debugging, troubleshooting, and performance tuning of embedded systems.
- Contribute to software architecture discussions, design reviews, and code quality initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices in wearable tech and embedded systems.
- Write clear, concise, and comprehensive documentation for developed software.
Required Skills
- Proficiency in C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
- Extensive experience with Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) such as FreeRTOS, Zephyr, or similar.
- Strong understanding of embedded system architecture and hardware/software interfaces.
- Familiarity with various communication protocols (I2C, SPI, UART, USB).
- Experience with Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) development and other wireless technologies.
- Demonstrated experience in sensor integration and data acquisition.
- Proficiency with debugging tools (e.g., JTAG/SWD debuggers) and methodologies.
- Experience with version control systems, preferably Git.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Experience with specific wearable platforms (e.g., Android Wear OS, watchOS, or custom RTOS-based platforms).
- Knowledge of low-power design principles and techniques for battery-constrained devices.
- Experience with cloud integration for data synchronization and processing.
- Familiarity with UI/UX development for small form factors and embedded graphics libraries.
- Experience in an Agile/Scrum development environment.
- Exposure to hardware design and schematic review.
