Job Description

Appalachian Power is seeking an experienced and highly organized Operations Coordinator to manage and support our critical Relocation Plans. In this pivotal role, you will be instrumental in the meticulous planning, coordination, and execution of various operational relocation projects, which may involve the movement of infrastructure assets, equipment, or facilities due to development, modernization, or regulatory requirements. This position demands a keen eye for detail, exceptional communication skills, and the ability to orchestrate complex logistics involving multiple internal departments, external contractors, and regulatory bodies. You will serve as a central point of contact, ensuring all aspects of relocation projects adhere to timelines, budgets, safety standards, and environmental regulations. The ideal candidate will thrive in a dynamic environment, possess a strong understanding of project management principles, and demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor all phases of operational relocation projects, from initial planning through execution and completion.
  • Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, tracking progress and identifying potential delays or conflicts.
  • Liaise effectively with internal stakeholders including engineering, environmental, land management, and construction teams.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for external vendors, contractors, and local authorities involved in relocation efforts.
  • Ensure all relocation activities comply with company policies, state and federal regulations, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the preparation and management of project budgets, monitoring expenditures and reporting on financial status.
  • Facilitate necessary permits, licenses, and documentation required for project execution.
  • Organize and lead project meetings, preparing agendas, documenting minutes, and tracking action items.
  • Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on project status, progress, and outcomes for management review.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in project coordination, operations management, or logistics.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of interacting with all levels of an organization and external partners.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) and project management software.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving capabilities and ability to work under pressure.
  • Ability to interpret technical documents, schematics, and project plans.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various project sites as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Project Management, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience in the utilities, energy, or construction industry.
  • Familiarity with environmental regulations and permitting processes.
  • Certification in project management (e.g., PMP, CAPM).
  • Experience specifically with infrastructure relocation or large-scale logistical planning.
