Job Description
As a Food Technologist specializing in Production Analysis at Career.zycto, you will be instrumental in upholding and advancing our commitment to product excellence and food safety within our state-of-the-art facility in Kakamega. This role demands a sharp analytical mind and a proactive approach to ensuring that all production processes adhere to the highest international and national quality standards, including HACCP, GMP, and relevant Kenyan regulatory frameworks. You will be at the forefront of monitoring, evaluating, and optimizing our production lines, from raw material inspection to finished product release, implementing robust quality control measures at every critical stage.
Your day-to-day will involve conducting meticulous chemical, physical, and microbiological analyses on food samples, interpreting complex data, and generating comprehensive reports that inform critical business decisions. You will identify potential risks, troubleshoot quality deviations, and collaborate closely with production, engineering, and research & development teams to implement corrective and preventative actions. This position is vital for driving continuous improvement initiatives, enhancing process efficiency, reducing waste, and contributing to the development of new and improved products. You’ll play a key role in validating new processes and technologies, ensuring their seamless integration without compromising quality or safety.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive quality control analyses (chemical, physical, microbiological) on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products.
- Monitor and evaluate food production processes to ensure adherence to established quality standards, specifications, and regulatory requirements (HACCP, GMP, ISO).
- Identify, investigate, and troubleshoot quality deviations, non-conformances, and customer complaints, implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of all analytical data, test results, and quality control procedures.
- Prepare detailed technical reports on product quality, process performance, and analytical findings for management review.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and R&D teams to optimize existing processes, reduce waste, and improve product consistency and quality.
- Participate in the validation of new products, processes, and equipment, ensuring compliance with food safety and quality standards.
- Provide training and guidance to production staff on quality procedures, food safety protocols, and best manufacturing practices.
- Assist in internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory bodies and certification standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, new technologies, and changes in food safety regulations.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Chemistry, or a related scientific field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in quality control or production analysis within the food manufacturing industry.
- In-depth knowledge of food safety management systems (HACCP, GMP, ISO 22000).
- Proficiency in laboratory analytical techniques and instrumentation.
- Strong understanding of food chemistry, microbiology, and processing principles.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to interpret complex data and generate clear, concise reports.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software for data analysis.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Food Science or a related field.
- Certifications in HACCP, Food Safety Auditing, or Quality Management.
- Experience with sensory analysis and product development support.
- Knowledge of Kenyan food regulations and standards (KEBS).
