Key Responsibilities
- Design and optimize mine plans, layouts, and infrastructure, including shafts, tunnels, and open pits.
- Conduct feasibility studies, economic evaluations, and risk assessments for new and existing mining projects.
- Develop and implement drilling, blasting, and excavation plans, ensuring efficiency and safety.
- Monitor and analyze geological data, rock mechanics, and ground stability to inform mining methods.
- Manage ventilation systems, dewatering, and waste management plans to comply with environmental regulations.
- Oversee operational activities, ensuring adherence to safety protocols, production targets, and quality standards.
- Utilize mine planning software (e.g., AutoCAD, Surpac, Vulcan) for design, scheduling, and modeling.
- Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and other engineering disciplines to integrate project aspects.
- Prepare detailed reports, presentations, and technical documentation for stakeholders.
- Stay abreast of industry best practices, new technologies, and regulatory changes in mining engineering.
Required Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
- Proven experience with mine planning software (e.g., Surpac, Vulcan, MineSight, AutoCAD Civil 3D).
- Strong understanding of rock mechanics, geotechnical engineering, and geological principles.
- Excellent project management skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- In-depth knowledge of health and safety regulations pertinent to mining operations (e.g., MSHA).
