Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Power Tool Repair Technician to join our team in Hope Bay, Portland Parish. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of power tools, ensuring they meet our high standards of safety and operational efficiency. From drills and saws to grinders and specialized equipment, your expertise will be crucial in supporting our customers and rental services. Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues in various power tools, including corded, cordless, and pneumatic types.
  • Perform skilled repairs, replacements, and maintenance on power tool components such as motors, switches, gears, and batteries.
  • Conduct thorough testing of repaired tools to ensure full functionality, safety, and adherence to manufacturer specifications.
  • Provide accurate cost estimates and timelines for repairs to customers, explaining technical issues in an understandable manner.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment, adhering to all safety protocols and company policies.
  • Manage inventory of repair parts and order necessary components in a timely manner.
  • Document all repair work, including parts used, time spent, and final test results.
  • Stay updated on new power tool technologies, repair techniques, and safety regulations.
  • Offer technical advice and support to customers regarding tool operation, maintenance, and proper usage.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience in power tool repair or a related mechanical/electrical field.
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical principles.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and repair equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy tools and equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical certification or diploma in electronics, mechanics, or a related trade.
  • Experience with a variety of power tool brands and models (e.g., DeWalt, Makita, Bosch, Milwaukee).
  • Familiarity with rental equipment maintenance and repair procedures.
  • Valid Jamaican driver's license.
