As a Recreation Coordinator, you will be at the forefront of designing, organizing, and implementing diverse programs that cater to various interests and age groups within the foreign community. This role requires a proactive approach to understanding the needs and preferences of a diverse group, bridging cultural gaps, and promoting community cohesion. Key Responsibilities
- Develop, plan, and execute a diverse calendar of recreational, social, and cultural activities tailored to the needs of the foreign community in Redcar.
- Promote programs and events effectively through various channels, ensuring maximum participation and engagement.
- Coordinate resources, venues, equipment, and personnel (including volunteers) required for successful program delivery.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with local community groups, charities, educational institutions, and businesses to enhance program offerings.
- Gather feedback from participants to continually assess program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure all activities comply with safety regulations and organizational policies, promoting a safe and inclusive environment for all.
- Manage budgets for individual programs and maintain accurate records of attendance and expenses.
- Act as a point of contact and support for foreign residents seeking recreational opportunities and community integration.
- Prepare regular reports on program outcomes, participation rates, and community impact.
Required Skills
- Proven experience in program coordination, event planning, or community development.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse populations.
- Strong organizational and project management abilities, capable of managing multiple initiatives simultaneously.
- Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and an understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by international residents.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with social media for promotional purposes.
Preferred Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Community Development, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- Experience working directly with multicultural or international communities.
- Additional language proficiency beyond English.
- Knowledge of local community resources and networks within Redcar and North Yorkshire.
- Valid UK driving license.
