Key Responsibilities
- Develop and deliver high-quality, engaging, and age-appropriate swimming lessons for individuals and groups.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants in the aquatic environment at all times, adhering strictly to safety protocols.
- Conduct thorough evaluations of participant progress, providing constructive feedback and adapting teaching methods as needed.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe pool deck and instructional area.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with participants, parents, and colleagues regarding lessons, progress, and safety.
- Administer basic first aid and CPR when necessary, acting decisively in emergency situations.
- Adhere to all Career.zycto facility policies, procedures, and relevant aquatic standards.
- Assist with the registration process and scheduling of lessons as required.
- Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation and skill development.
Required Skills
- Valid National Lifeguard Service (NLS) or equivalent lifeguard certification.
- Current Water Safety Instructor (WSI) or equivalent swimming instructor certification.
- Current CPR-C and Standard First Aid certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of proven experience teaching swimming lessons to diverse age groups.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and motivational skills.
- Strong understanding of water safety principles and rescue techniques.
- Ability to adapt teaching styles to accommodate different learning abilities and needs.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of vigilance and attention to detail.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingualism (English and French) is a strong asset.
- Experience with adaptive aquatics or teaching individuals with special needs.
- Additional aquatic certifications (e.g., coaching, synchronized swimming).
- Post-secondary education in recreation, kinesiology, or a related field.
