Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Health Information Manager to join our dynamic team in Mansfield, Nottingham. This pivotal role requires a professional with a strong command of English, exceptional communication skills, and an in-depth understanding of healthcare information systems and data governance. As a Health Information Manager, you will be instrumental in overseeing the collection, storage, retrieval, and protection of health information, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance with all relevant regulatory standards and legislation, including GDPR and NHS data policies.

Your primary focus will be to lead the strategic development and operational management of our health information systems. Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure strict compliance with national and international data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, Data Protection Act) and NHS information governance standards.
  • Oversee the management and integrity of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and other health information platforms.
  • Lead and mentor a team of health information professionals, fostering their professional development.
  • Conduct regular audits and risk assessments to identify and mitigate data security and privacy vulnerabilities.
  • Collaborate with clinical, IT, and administrative departments to facilitate seamless data flow and system integration.
  • Generate insightful reports and perform data analysis to support operational decision-making and strategic planning.
  • Develop and deliver training programs on information governance, data entry best practices, and system usage.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all health information-related queries and issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives in health information management processes and technologies.

Required Skills

  • Proven experience (minimum 4 years) in a Health Information Management or similar leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK healthcare data standards, regulations, and information governance principles (e.g., GDPR, DPA, Caldicott Principles, NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit).
  • Proficiency in managing and optimizing Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, suitable for diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on coaching and development.
  • Ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory requirements to practical operational scenarios.
  • Experience with data quality assurance and audit processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Health Informatics, Information Management, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Professional certification in Health Information Management (e.g., AHIMA, CHIM).
  • Experience with specific healthcare IT platforms or business intelligence tools.
  • Project management experience within a healthcare setting.
  • Understanding of clinical coding and classification systems.
