Job Description
We are seeking a highly organized, proactive, and detail-oriented Freight Logistics Coordinator to join our dynamic team in Dondo, Sofala Province. This pivotal role is essential for ensuring the smooth and efficient flow of goods, from origin to destination, across our extensive logistics network. As a Freight Logistics Coordinator, you will be the central point of contact, orchestrating various operational activities, managing client expectations, and collaborating closely with carriers, customs brokers, and internal departments to optimize our freight operations. You will play a critical role in managing the entire lifecycle of shipments, from initial booking and documentation to final delivery and invoicing, ensuring all processes adhere to national and international regulations. Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate daily freight movements, including scheduling, tracking, and documentation for both import and export shipments across various modes of transport (road, rail, sea, air).
- Liaise effectively with clients, carriers, customs agents, port authorities, and warehouses to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
- Prepare, review, and process all necessary shipping documentation, such as bills of lading, airway bills, customs declarations, commercial invoices, and packing lists, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Monitor shipment status proactively, identify potential delays or issues (e.g., customs clearance problems, transit disruptions), and implement effective solutions to minimize impact.
- Maintain accurate records of all logistics activities, transactions, and communications, and generate comprehensive reports on operational performance, costs, and service levels.
- Ensure strict compliance with national and international shipping regulations, customs procedures, trade agreements, and company policies and procedures.
- Negotiate competitive rates with carriers and service providers, optimizing costs without compromising service quality or delivery timelines.
- Provide exceptional customer service, responding promptly and professionally to inquiries, providing shipment updates, and resolving logistics-related concerns or complaints.
- Collaborate with internal sales, finance, and operations teams to streamline processes and enhance overall customer experience.
- Assist in the preparation of quotes and proposals for new and existing clients, demonstrating a clear understanding of their logistics needs.
Required Skills
- Proven experience (minimum 2 years) in freight forwarding, logistics, supply chain coordination, or a related role.
- Strong understanding of freight documentation, customs procedures, and international shipping regulations (Incoterms, H.S. codes).
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships.
- Proficiency in logistics software, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Exceptional organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate initiative, and function effectively as part of a collaborative team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities to address complex logistics challenges.
- Fluency in Portuguese (written and spoken) is essential, and working proficiency in English is highly required due to international communications.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a closely related field.
- Experience with specific Transport Management Systems (TMS) or freight forwarding software.
- In-depth knowledge of Mozambican transport, customs, and trade laws.
- Previous experience working with logistics operations within the Beira corridor or other major Southern African corridors.
