Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Database Administrator to join our dynamic technology team in Liberty Village, Toronto. In this crucial role, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of our various database systems, ensuring continuous operation and optimal efficiency. As a key player, you will manage, monitor, and maintain our SQL Server and other database environments, providing expert support for critical business applications. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, and maintain database servers and processes, including monitoring system health and performance to ensure high levels of performance, availability, and security.
  • Implement and maintain database backup and recovery strategies, ensuring data integrity and rapid restoration in case of disaster.
  • Perform database performance tuning, optimization, and query optimization to ensure efficient data access and system response times.
  • Develop, manage, and test database replication, disaster recovery, and failover solutions.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design and implement robust database solutions for new applications and features.
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues, providing timely resolution and root cause analysis.
  • Implement and enforce database security measures, including user access management, role-based security, and data encryption.
  • Document database architecture, procedures, and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in administering Microsoft SQL Server (2016, 2019, or newer) environments.
  • Strong understanding of database design, normalization, T-SQL, stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Experience with performance tuning and optimization (e.g., query optimization, indexing strategies).
  • Expertise in backup, restoration, and recovery models.
  • Knowledge of database security principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal, for technical documentation and team collaboration.
  • Proven problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to troubleshooting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience with other database technologies such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle.
  • Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, AWS RDS).
  • Experience with database automation tools and scripting (e.g., PowerShell).
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or other relevant certifications.
