Key Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures, including but not limited to abdominal, pelvic, OB/GYN, and small parts examinations, as ordered by physicians.
  • Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, answering questions, and ensuring their comfort and privacy throughout the process.
  • Operate and maintain advanced ultrasound equipment, ensuring proper functionality, calibration, and cleanliness.
  • Accurately acquire, record, and document high-quality images and preliminary findings, maintaining detailed and confidential patient records in accordance with HIPAA.
  • Collaborate effectively with radiologists, referring physicians, and other healthcare team members to optimize patient care and imaging interpretation.
  • Adhere strictly to all safety protocols, quality assurance standards, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ARDMS, ACR) to ensure patient and staff safety.
  • Participate in ongoing training and continuous professional development to stay current with the latest sonography techniques and technologies.
  • Assist with scheduling, patient flow management, and other departmental duties as assigned.

Required Skills

  • Associate's degree or Certificate of Completion from an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
  • Demonstrated foundational knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology relevant to ultrasound imaging.
  • Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and executing proper image acquisition techniques.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective patient and team interaction.
  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to follow precise medical instructions.
  • Ability to work compassionately, professionally, and ethically with diverse patient populations.
  • Basic computer literacy and comfort with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Current CPR certification (BLS) or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Current registration or eligibility for registration with ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) in one or more specialties.
  • Prior clinical externship or internship experience in an acute care or outpatient healthcare setting.
  • Familiarity with various ultrasound modalities and procedures.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to learning, problem-solving, and professional growth.
