Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced critical care assessment, intervention, and management for critically ill and injured patients during aeromedical transport.
- Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment in an aircraft environment.
- Administer medications, perform advanced airway management, initiate and manage ventilators, and perform other critical care procedures.
- Collaborate effectively with pilots, paramedics, and ground medical teams to ensure safe and efficient patient transport.
- Maintain meticulous patient records, documentation, and communication logs.
- Ensure the safety of patients, crew members, and aircraft during all phases of flight.
- Participate in pre-mission briefings, post-mission debriefings, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
- Adhere strictly to all medical protocols, aviation regulations, and company policies.
- Participate in ongoing training, drills, and professional development to maintain and enhance clinical competencies.
Required Skills
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ontario, in good standing.
- Minimum of 4 years of recent critical care experience (e.g., ICU, ED, CCU).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) or International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification.
- Strong assessment, critical thinking, and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to work effectively in a confined, high-stress environment and adapt to changing conditions.
- Physical ability to lift and move patients and equipment, and wear flight gear.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN) or Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification.
- Previous experience in aeromedical transport or pre-hospital care.
- Experience with advanced ventilator management and invasive monitoring.
- Additional advanced certifications (e.g., NRP, ABLS).
