Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Painter for Building Maintenance to join our esteemed property management team in Hurlingham, Nairobi. The successful candidate will be instrumental in maintaining the aesthetic appeal and structural integrity of various commercial and residential properties under our management. This role requires a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of different painting techniques and materials, and a commitment to delivering high-quality finishes. You will be responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing and matching paints, applying various coats, and performing touch-ups, ensuring all work adheres to safety standards and property specifications. Key Responsibilities
- Prepare various surfaces (wood, plaster, metal, concrete) for painting by scraping, sanding, priming, or sealing.
- Mix and match paints, stains, and varnishes to achieve desired colors and textures, applying them uniformly with brushes, rollers, or spray equipment.
- Perform routine interior and exterior painting, touch-ups, and repainting of walls, ceilings, doors, frames, and other building elements.
- Inspect painted surfaces regularly for wear, damage, or defects, and perform corrective actions as needed.
- Execute minor repairs to surfaces such as plaster patching, caulking, and joint sealing prior to painting.
- Ensure proper ventilation and safety precautions are observed during all painting operations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain inventory of painting supplies, tools, and equipment, ensuring they are clean, well-organized, and in good working condition.
- Liaise with the maintenance team and property managers to schedule painting tasks and report significant structural or maintenance issues.
Required Skills
- Proven experience as a Painter in building maintenance or a similar role.
- Excellent knowledge of painting material, application methods, and surface preparation techniques.
- Proficiency in using various painting tools and equipment (brushes, rollers, sprayers, scaffolding).
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and precautions related to painting work.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics and quality finishes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing time effectively.
- Physical stamina and dexterity to perform manual tasks, including lifting and working at heights.
Preferred Qualifications
- Vocational training or certification in painting, decorating, or a related trade.
- Experience with specialized finishes or decorative painting techniques.
- Basic knowledge of other building maintenance trades (e.g., carpentry, masonry, plastering).
- Valid driving license and ability to commute between various property sites.
