Job Description
We are seeking highly skilled, reliable, and experienced Truck Drivers to join our dynamic team in Victoria Island, Lagos. As a crucial part of our logistics network, you will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of goods across various routes within Lagos and potentially surrounding states. Key Responsibilities
- Safely operate heavy and light-duty trucks for the transportation of goods and materials.
- Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of vehicles, ensuring all mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Adhere strictly to all traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company transportation policies.
- Load and unload cargo safely, ensuring proper securing and handling to prevent damage during transit.
- Verify shipment contents against shipping documents and report any discrepancies.
- Maintain accurate logbooks of trips, including mileage, fuel consumption, and delivery times.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch, clients, and other team members regarding delivery status, delays, or issues.
- Perform basic routine maintenance on vehicles, such as checking oil, water, and tire pressure, and report any major mechanical issues.
- Ensure the timely and secure delivery of goods to designated locations.
- Represent the company professionally and courteously to clients and the public.
- Comply with all health and safety regulations at all times.
Required Skills
- Valid Class G or E Driver's License (or equivalent heavy-duty license in Nigeria).
- Proven experience as a truck driver, specifically with large commercial vehicles.
- Excellent knowledge of Lagos road networks and traffic regulations.
- Strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading/unloading.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- High degree of professionalism and responsibility.
- Clean driving record.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least 2 years of professional truck driving experience in a logistics or transportation setting.
- Familiarity with GPS devices and route optimization software.
- Experience with various types of cargo and delivery procedures.
- Defensive driving certification.
- Basic first aid knowledge.
