Job Description

Career.zycto is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Database Administrator to manage and optimize our company’s critical database systems. In this essential role, you will be responsible for the performance, integrity, and security of various databases, ensuring their seamless operation and accessibility for our internal teams and client-facing applications. As a Database Admin, Company Systems, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level database solutions. Your daily activities will range from routine maintenance and troubleshooting to complex system upgrades and disaster recovery planning. You will work closely with software development, IT operations, and project management teams to understand requirements, optimize database structures, and ensure data consistency across all platforms. Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, patch, and upgrade database software (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
  • Monitor database performance, troubleshoot issues, and implement optimization strategies.
  • Perform database backup, recovery, and replication procedures.
  • Ensure data security, integrity, and availability through access control, encryption, and regular audits.
  • Implement and maintain database schema changes and data migrations.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, functions, and triggers.
  • Collaborate with development teams to design efficient database structures and queries.
  • Plan and execute disaster recovery and business continuity strategies for databases.
  • Document database architecture, configurations, and operational procedures.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies and best practices.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one major RDBMS (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
  • Strong understanding of database design, normalization, and optimization techniques.
  • Experience with database monitoring and performance tuning tools.
  • Knowledge of database security best practices and compliance.
  • Familiarity with backup and recovery strategies.
  • Scripting skills (e.g., PowerShell, Bash, Python) for automation.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Relevant professional certifications (e.g., MCSA: SQL 2016 Database Administration, Oracle Certified Professional).
  • Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL Database).
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra).
  • Experience with database clustering and high-availability solutions.
  • Knowledge of data warehousing and ETL processes.
