Career.zycto is seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Camp Counselors to join our team for the upcoming summer season in New Bedford, Massachusetts. As a Seasonal Camp Counselor, you will be the heart and soul of our summer program, directly impacting the daily lives of campers. You will be responsible for guiding groups of children through a diverse range of activities, from arts and crafts to sports, nature exploration, and team-building challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise a group of campers, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
- Lead and actively participate in a variety of camp activities including sports, arts & crafts, games, and educational sessions.
- Create a positive, inclusive, and encouraging environment for all campers.
- Act as a role model, demonstrating positive behavior, sportsmanship, and respect.
- Assist with planning, organizing, and executing daily camp schedules and special events.
- Communicate effectively with campers, fellow staff, and camp leadership regarding daily activities and any concerns.
- Ensure compliance with all camp policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
- Administer basic first aid when necessary and report all incidents and accidents promptly.
- Help facilitate smooth transitions between activities and maintain cleanliness of camp areas.
- Encourage teamwork, problem-solving, and personal growth among campers.
Required Skills
- Proven enthusiasm and ability to work effectively with children aged 5-13.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong leadership qualities and ability to manage a group of children.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliability, punctuality, and a strong work ethic.
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing schedules and camp needs.
- Ability to maintain a positive attitude and high energy throughout the day.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience as a camp counselor, youth leader, or in a similar childcare role.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Specialized skills in arts, music, sports, outdoor recreation, or a particular craft.
- Enrollment in or completion of a college degree program, particularly in education, recreation, or a related field.
