Job Description

Grupo Madal is looking for dedicated Food Processing Handlers to join our dynamic team in Nicoadala, Quelimane. In this essential part-time role, you will be a crucial part of our initial food processing operations, ensuring that our agricultural products are handled, sorted, and prepared according to stringent quality and safety standards. Key Responsibilities

  • Handle, sort, and inspect raw agricultural products (e.g., grains, nuts, fruits) for quality, defects, and foreign materials.
  • Operate and monitor basic processing machinery under supervision, ensuring efficient workflow and adherence to operational guidelines.
  • Adhere strictly to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations and company policies, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Clean and sanitize workstations, equipment, and processing areas regularly to prevent contamination and maintain a pristine work environment.
  • Package and label processed products accurately according to specifications, ensuring proper inventory identification.
  • Assist with inventory management by receiving, storing, and rotating products as required, following first-in, first-out (FIFO) principles.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions, product quality issues, or safety concerns to supervisors promptly to facilitate quick resolution.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members to meet production targets and maintain a cohesive, respectful, and productive work environment.

Required Skills

  • Ability to follow instructions accurately and meticulously, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Strong attention to detail and unwavering commitment to quality and safety standards.
  • Physical stamina and ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 20kg, and perform repetitive tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and hygiene principles, with a willingness to learn and implement new protocols.
  • Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic, demonstrating a consistent presence and dedication.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, contributing positively to group objectives.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new procedures, technologies, and equipment as the processing methods evolve.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience (at least 6 months) in a food handling, agricultural processing, or manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of local food safety regulations and guidelines (e.g., from INAE – Instituto Nacional de Actividades Económicas).
  • Completed primary education or equivalent, demonstrating foundational literacy and numeracy.
  • Fluency in Portuguese and basic communication skills in Sena or local dialects prevalent in Zambezia province.
