Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Perform accurate and timely reconciliation of various general ledger accounts and bank statements.
- Support the budgeting and forecasting processes, analyzing variances and providing explanations.
- Process invoices, expense reports, and other financial transactions with meticulous attention to detail.
- Maintain financial records, ensuring data integrity and adherence to accounting principles and internal controls.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather financial data and provide analytical support.
- Participate in the year-end audit process by preparing requested documentation and schedules.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations and company policies.
- Utilize accounting software and advanced Excel functionalities for data analysis and reporting.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 2-3 years of progressive experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Proven proficiency with accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks Enterprise) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, advanced formulas).
- Strong understanding of accounting principles (ASPE/IFRS) and financial reporting.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote work environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial information.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA designation or actively pursuing CPA candidacy.
- Experience working within the financial services industry, particularly within a cooperative or banking environment.
- Familiarity with Desjardins' internal financial systems and processes.
- Bilingualism (French and English) is a significant asset.
- Experience with cloud-based accounting solutions.
